Let knowledge circulate.
Let its value grow.
Documents hold observations, decisions and experience that others can build on. Yet their sources, connections and later changes are often difficult to follow.
Intertween explores how Knowledge Objects can make this understandable across organisational boundaries. We want to follow sources, examine connections and learn together over time, with clear responsibility and respect for rights.
Public-sector data availability
The contents become a path to other knowledge objects.
A document contains references to other sources. Choose a path to follow.
Two selected connections from the preserved bill. No AI is running.
Which connections stand up to scrutiny?
References lead to earlier work. People and organisations connect different perspectives. Shared concepts open further paths to explore. Following these connections can help us discover useful knowledge, understand its origins and trace how others build upon it. Each new contribution can enrich the network.
relationships and candidates in our parliamentary example
In our parliamentary example, bill 2021/22:225, we extracted more than 500 relationships and candidates for review: connections to legal provisions, other documents, actors and concepts. Each record has evidence in the preserved source.
562 of these records are candidates that have not been independently reviewed. The figure covers several kinds of relationship, not verified links to that many other files. Examine the document and evidence ↗
You can also compare a file, text or link with the site’s preserved parliamentary material and examine the suggested connections yourself. Explore your material ↗
From one source to continued learning
Follow the knowledge
Start with a document or observation. Trace its origins and the material it references.
Examine the connections
Inspect what connects the sources, what challenges them and which context is missing. A suggested connection calls for investigation.
Return to the question
New evidence or a correction can change an assessment. Follow what has been added and what needs to be examined again.
The document example shows preserved sources and selected connections. Learning across independent nodes over time is a proposed capability that remains to be tested.
The We, Not the Me.
It is also what becomes possible between us.
Knowledge gains meaning when experiences meet, a connection is examined and someone builds on earlier work. An important question can emerge between a source and a decision. Two organisations may hold knowledge that nobody has yet connected.
We want to give shared learning a stronger foundation. Contributions need recognition, responsibility must remain traceable and each person’s rights must be respected.
Intertween is developing an open framework to explore this without placing all information or control with one actor.
Read the manifesto and our five principles ↗What becomes visible between our responsibilities?
Organisations need defined responsibilities to act and remain accountable. Those boundaries also shape what we notice. Questions that cross departments, disciplines or institutions can remain without a clear place to be addressed.
When knowledge connects across those boundaries, an overlooked relationship, tension or unanswered question may become visible. An intertween gives that emerging question a form: a smart knowledge object that others can examine, challenge and develop—with its evidence and uncertainty preserved. It can become a starting point for shared learning and considered action.
Explore how an intertween emerges ↗Preserving knowledge gives us a foundation. Keeping it connected allows its value to grow. New evidence, challenges and uses can be added while the original and its history remain intact.
01 / LEARNING PATHS
Do any of these sound familiar?
These paths are hypotheses, not finished solutions. Each question has a fictional case that shows what we would need to investigate in practice.

Three concepts for following knowledge
A Knowledge Object describes a particular source. Relationships describe how sources and contexts connect. An intertween gives a question or insight between sources its own identity so it can be examined and developed.

What remains to be tested
Exchange between independent nodes, changes to conditions and shared learning in real organisations. The examples show parts of the model; they do not establish that the complete architecture works in production.
