APPLICATION / CROSS-DOMAIN
Start with a real reuse or a real gap.
Intertween is an open framework built around the protocol. These patterns can be applied wherever knowledge moves across systems, organisations, communities or time while context and accountability must remain intact.
The protocol stays stable while profiles vary.
A domain profile can add vocabularies, classifications, legal mappings and validation rules. An infrastructure profile can connect a protocol implementation to particular identity, catalogue, storage or exchange services. Neither changes the core Knowledge Object contract.
Human-centred AI, cybersecurity and IoT.
Each area applies the same protocol to a different boundary: between people and AI, between distributed security contexts, or between digital observations and physical events. They demonstrate relevance without turning Intertween into a domain-specific framework.
Human-centred AI
How can AI increase capacity without silently acquiring authority?
AI systems can summarise, classify and propose at machine speed, while their inputs, assumptions, permissions and downstream effects are easily separated from the decision they influence.
Represent prompts, models, source projections, proposals, human reviews and outcomes as related Knowledge Objects. Agent mandates bound what a system may retrieve, infer, propose or change. Participation records show how both human and non-human entities affected the result.
A reviewer can reconstruct what the AI saw, what it proposed, who decided, what changed and which later outcome supports or contests the decision.
Cybersecurity
How can distributed signals become actionable without creating an unaccountable central truth?
Incidents emerge across devices, identities, suppliers, policies and organisations. Individually weak signals may become significant only through their relations, while sharing them can create new exposure.
Wrap observations with source, time, integrity, classification and disclosure conditions. Finder proposes relations or Intertweens. Mediator controls projections. Tracker preserves response, correction, revocation and consequence history.
A security team can inspect why signals were related, which evidence remained unavailable, what response was authorised and how confidence changed after the outcome.
Internet of Things
How can physical events remain distinguishable from devices, sensor readings and interpretations?
A device is not the phenomenon it measures. Sensor observations depend on calibration, location, time, firmware and operating conditions, yet these distinctions are often flattened into one data stream.
Give devices, sensors, policies, places and physical things persistent entity references. Preserve observations as Knowledge Objects and express contextual actorship through Participation records. Link calibration, transformations, commands and outcomes through provenance.
A consumer can trace one derived claim back to the device, observation context, calibration state, transformation and authorised action that produced it.
Reuse a model or component across organisations
A model, workflow, prompt library, evaluation set or other reusable component moves into a new context, but its provenance, conditions and contributors must remain inspectable.
Wrap the artifact as a Knowledge Object; carry rights, purpose, legal basis, jurisdiction and classification; record contributions and reuse events; return outcomes without replacing the authoritative source.
Two independent organisations complete one purpose-bound reuse and return one attributable correction or outcome.
Reuse authoritative knowledge without collecting it again
One system or organisation needs knowledge already maintained elsewhere, while authority, purpose, freshness and disclosure limits must remain explicit.
Reference the authoritative source, preserve retrieval and derivation, attach the requesting purpose and applicable conditions, and expose only the permitted projection.
The receiver can trace each reused element to its source and policy decision without creating a competing source of truth.
Make a gap between mandates addressable
A recurring matter affects several entities, systems or domains, but no existing mandate covers the whole and each participant can see only part of it.
Register a meta-observation as an unclaimed Intertween, name the touching mandates, keep evidence visible under a custodian, notify relevant responsible parties and track ownership as it emerges.
The matter remains visible through unclaimed and between states, then records the actual mandate, agreement or work change that makes a claim real.
Encode conditions before exchange
Rights, policy, legal and security questions are often reconstructed after an integration or transfer has already been designed.
Keep usage rights, legal basis, purpose, jurisdiction, classification and disclosure assessment as separate machine-readable fields. Unknown critical conditions fail closed.
A validator can explain why a projection is allowed, masked, blocked or routed to human review before exchange.
Begin locally. Add federation only when useful.
Observe
Preserve one useful source as a governed Knowledge Object.
Relate
Map local concepts and identify evidence-backed relationships.
Reuse
Exchange one purpose-bound projection between independent contexts.
Learn
Return outcomes, corrections and attribution without rewriting history.
Each step can be implemented inside existing tools. A standalone protocol implementation is not a prerequisite.
